Maritime Greenwich

Some more pictures of London this week. The first thing you see when you get off the boat at Greenwich pier is the Victorian clipper the Cutty Sark. Hard to get a picture of the whole thing as it’s so built up around it…

Next we walked through the Naval College and went into the (free) ‘Painted Hall’, a fantastic tromp l’oeil hall that looks covered in carvings, but even the ‘fireplace’ is just painted on flat stone. Beautiful.

Next was the Naval Chapel. Another beautiful ceiling, but unlike the painted hall, all the decoration is three-dimensional marquetry.
